My favorite summer destination is Southern California, which is why I set my latest novel, Dangerous Alternative, there. There's something about the beach that soothes my soul. The pull of the waves, the scent of the sea. The heat from the sun.
My family likes Seal Beach for the view, the quieter beach and the memories we've already made there!
I can spend days on the beach with a book, my sunglasses, and a bag of snacks (essential to share with seagulls!)
It's a perfect summer setting!
I've never been scuba diving, but Dangerous Alternative features a deep sea dive that ends in terror! I think that might be a fear of all of us...

This year my favorite summer destination is New Hampshire. My husband relocated there already and we are just waiting for school to be out and have a house. I need to be settled in one place.
ReplyDeleteI've never been there, but it sounds wonderful. I would love to see the East Coast.
DeleteThere is so much to do along the East Coast. We live near Philadelphia right now and all the history is amazing - both here and in Boston.
DeleteI love history! I've gotta go there soon
DeleteGlacier National Park! Lots of hiking, lots of nature, cooler temps than down here on the plains, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love camping and hiking. Glacier is on my bucket list.
DeleteAs I have said all my life I love a cabin by the lake. I always went camping with my grandparents as a kid and its those great memories I hope to create with my kids. Living in Texas we have been all over the US from New Mexico to Tennessee and along the east coast. We picked up a key chain or something small from everyplace and we place it on our memory tree. The keepsake is our ornaments of our Christmas tree. But the vacations talked about the most are camping.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I love camping and hiking in Colorado and other mountains. Our rural home sits on the banks of a pond and we love the views, the water, and the wildlife.

ReplyDeleteAs retirees, our summer destination is staying home and helping care for about 13 horses and 1 donkey. 5 horses belong to us and 8 horses plus 1 donkey belong to our daughter. Love it. rebunting(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love horses and wish we had the $$ to have one on our property. 13 of them is a lot! Have a great summer!
DeleteGive me a cabin in the Smokey Mountains by a bubbling stream
ReplyDeleteThe Smokey Mountains are on my bucket list. I can't wait to see them!
DeleteI LOVE the beach. If only I actually could afford to live by the beach, but most anywhere on the Pacific coast is ridiculously expensive. I love visiting the beach, and it's only about once a year unfortunately. My favorite anniversary trip was when my husband and I spontaneously decided to stay the night at a hotel near Pismo Beach (southern CA)
ReplyDeleteKindred spirits! I love the beach!
ReplyDeleteI want to visit Hawaii! It's been in my list for years!
ReplyDeleteMe too!

ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a beach person. I can handle it for little bits, but I'm not that into it. I like forest strolls better.
ReplyDeleteLove going to the boardwalk! Love the games, rides, food, laughs and the beach! Scared of getting into ocean water but I love walking shoreline!
ReplyDeleteThe mountains where it's cooler for the summer! Love the views, too, when I'm not hyperventilating because of the slight issues I have with heights. :-S
ReplyDeleteOur best-ever vacation was to Maui. My husband and I love the ocean, and our favorite vacation spots include relaxing on a beach. What was different about our Maui trip was that, in addition to plenty of beach time, we experienced some things we had never done before, including parasailing off Maui, snorkeling at Molokini, taking a trip to the ocean floor in a submarine, going to the top of a volcano to watch the sunrise, and going to a luau. We also attended a beachside worship service. It was so wonderful to sing praises with other believers from various locations, with the beautiful ocean and blue sky as a backdrop. It was the best vacation ever!
ReplyDeleteThis year I hope to go to Nashville. First for the ACFW, then for the sights, and possibly a drive into Atlanta. I'm a native Californian, so that would be an interesting road trip.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to visit a friend in Santa Barbara, CA. I've not been to the West Coast.
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy going to the lake.. Each of our children have lakes near them so we enjoy a picnic and day at the lake!
ReplyDeleteSouth Dakota mountains have been my favorite destination while married. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteStaying indoors in the a/c when it's hot and humid out is where I hang out in the summer. If I were to go on a vacation I would go somewhere that's not hot and humid. The humidity is what drags me down, dry heat I can handle better. I always carry a book or 2 with me so I have something to read. I enjoy just sitting and reading it's so relaxing!
